What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol is the open standard AI assistants use to talk to outside tools. Adding the Market Tracker connector gives your assistant a set of carrier-data tools it can call while answering you, so the numbers come from the federal record instead of from memory.
Do I need a paid account to try it?
No. Connecting starts a 7-day free trial of Market Tracker with everything included: insurance status, renewal X-dates, ISS scores, carrier contacts and full search results. A card is needed to start it, nothing is charged today, and cancelling before day 7 costs nothing.
Why does it ask me to sign up?
The connector reads the same licensed, cleaned and joined carrier index that powers the app, so every call is tied to an account. Signing up takes an email and a password, or one click with Google, and then a card to start the 7-day free trial ($0 today).
Is my data safe?
Every lookup tool is read-only: it cannot change your account, your carrier data or your saved views. Two billing tools can charge the card already on file (starting a paid plan early from a trial, or adding carriers past your monthly allowance), and only the team's owner or an admin can use them, always after a quoted price and your explicit yes. You approve the connection on our own consent screen and can disconnect it from your assistant at any time.
Is the data the same as the web app?
Yes. Both read the same index built from FMCSA census, licensing and insurance filings, SAFER and BASIC measures, the crash file and roadside inspections. What the app draws as a grid, the connector hands your assistant as structured data.
Does one subscription cover both?
Yes. A Market Tracker seat ($99 per user per month, or $69 billed yearly) unlocks the connector and the full web app for that user. New teams get a 7-day free trial. The trial includes 50 connector lookups for the team (the web app is not limited). If you need more before the trial ends, your assistant can start the paid plan on the card you already entered: it shows you the exact charge and only goes ahead when you say yes.
Which assistants work with it?
Anything that speaks MCP over HTTP. That includes Claude (web, desktop and Claude Code), ChatGPT with developer mode enabled, Cursor, and the MCP Inspector for testing.
How current is the data?
The carrier index refreshes on a rolling ingest from the federal sources, and authority and insurance lookups pull the live record at the moment your assistant asks.
