Sort and filter by estimated X-date so you reach a carrier while the policy is actually in play — not three months after it bound.
Three tools on one carrier database.
Prospect, size, and vet.
Market Explorer, Market Intelligence and Carrier Lookup all read the same cleaned DOT data — so a list you build, a market you size, and a carrier you vet are always the same source of truth.
Filter 425,000 carriers down to your next ten quotes.
Market Explorer is a live, filterable database of every insured motor carrier in the FMCSA. Slice by writing-paper insurer, domicile state, fleet size, cargo, operating radius, hazmat and renewal (X-date) window. Carrier counts update as you filter — then export the exact list to CSV or Excel.
- ✓Current writing paper on file
- ✓Estimated renewal / X-date
- ✓BI/PD coverage on file
- ✓One-click CSV / Excel export
Turn the same filter into a market map.
Every Market Explorer filter rolls straight up into Market Intelligence: distributions by domicile state, fleet size, operating radius and cargo mix, the top writing-paper insurers in your slice, and coverage-on-file limit tiers. Answer “how big is this segment, and who writes it today?” on one screen.
- ✓Share of writing paper by insurer
- ✓Geography heat-map by state
- ✓Fleet-size & radius distribution
- ✓Coverage-on-file limit tiers
One DOT number. The whole carrier.
Carrier Lookup assembles a single report from every public DOT source: census identity and operating authority, current insurance plus full filing history, safety rating and BASIC scores, 24-month and lifetime crashes, roadside inspections, equipment and cargo. The due-diligence that used to mean six browser tabs, in one.
- ✓Full insurance filing history
- ✓Safety rating & BASIC scores
- ✓Crash & roadside-inspection record
- ✓Equipment, cargo & authority
The safety & crash record, read for you.
Every report includes the analysis layer: safety rating, the five BASIC measures with inspection counts, out-of-service rates, and crash history broken out to 24-month and lifetime — fatalities, injuries, tow-aways and federally-reportable. The numbers a loss-sensitive underwriter actually asks for.
- ✓Driver & vehicle OOS rates
- ✓BASIC scores with violations
- ✓24-month vs. lifetime crashes
- ✓BI/PD on file vs. required
Less scraping SAFER.
More analyzing the market.
See which insurer writes each carrier today, and what share any insurer holds across a state, cargo class or fleet band.
Census, licensing & insurance, and safety records resolved to one carrier record — deduped, normalized and ready to analyze.
Build a list of, say, Texas reefer fleets of 10–49 power units renewing in Q3, and export it straight to your CRM.
Pull a full safety, crash and insurance-history report before you quote — or before you bind.
Quantify a segment in seconds: how many carriers, what fleet mix, which writing paper, what coverage limits.
The DOT data sources, cleaned and joined.
We pull the federal motor-carrier record from every source that matters, resolve it to one carrier identity, and keep it current — so the data is analyzable the moment you open it.
One plan. Every tool.

DOT data questions, answered.
Where does the DOT data come from?
Public federal sources — FMCSA census (MCS-150), Licensing & Insurance (L&I) filings, SAFER and the BASIC safety measures, the MCMIS crash file, roadside inspections, and NHTSA vehicle data. We clean, join and keep it current so it is actually analyzable.
How current is it?
The carrier database is refreshed on a rolling ingest from the federal sources. Individual carrier reports (Carrier Lookup) pull the latest census, authority, insurance and safety records at the moment you open them.
What is a “writing paper” insurer and an “X-date”?
Writing paper is the insurer named on a carrier’s active BI/PD filing — i.e. who carries them today. The X-date is the estimated renewal date (policy effective + 12 months) so you can time outreach to the renewal window.
Can I export the data?
Yes. Any filtered Market Explorer list exports to CSV or Excel, so you can push a targeted carrier list straight into your CRM or outreach workflow.
Isn’t this the same free data on the FMCSA site?
It’s built on the same public DOT data — but joined across census, insurance and safety, deduped, normalized, and wrapped in filtering, market roll-ups and exports. The analysis is the product; the scraping and stitching is done for you.
Who is Market Explorer for?
Commercial trucking insurance teams — MGAs, wholesalers, program carriers and agents — who prospect motor carriers, size segments, track writing-paper share, and vet a USDOT before they quote.
Bring a state and a writing paper.
We’ll size the market live.
A 20-minute screen-share on your real target segment — the carriers, the renewals, the writing-paper share. If the data can’t help you, we’ll say so.
