What exactly does the carrier insurance monitor watch for?

The Native Base carrier monitor checks each USDOT number against the FMCSA federal licensing-and-insurance database once a day and emails you on any of these changes: BI/PD (bodily injury / property damage) liability insurance dropping off file — i.e. a cancellation or lapse; BI/PD coverage on file falling below the federally required minimum for that carrier; operating authority (common, contract, or broker) going from Active to Revoked, Vacated, or Inactive; and a revocation becoming pending. These are the events that mean a carrier you cover, are about to quote, or have on a certificate is no longer legally able to operate.

Where does the data come from?

Straight from the federal FMCSA licensing & insurance datasets published on data.transportation.gov — the same source of truth FMCSA uses for operating authority and the BMC-91/BMC-34/BMC-82 insurance filings on file. The lookup is anonymous and we don’t modify the federal data.

How fast will I find out about a cancellation?

We re-check every monitored carrier daily, so you’ll typically know within 24 hours of the change appearing in the FMCSA record. Insurance and authority status don’t change minute-to-minute, so a daily sweep catches cancellations and revocations well before a renewal or audit would.

Why do I have to confirm my email first?

A single confirmation click (double opt-in) keeps the monitor list clean and protects your deliverability — it means alerts about a real cancellation actually reach your inbox instead of being filtered as bulk mail. Until you confirm, nothing is monitored. You can unsubscribe from any alert email with one click.

Can you monitor my whole book of business automatically?

Yes — this free tool watches up to 25 carriers per subscription, but the same engine runs at any scale.
